Standing Committees are permanent committees for ongoing functions, operating continuously throughout the year. They are established in the Bylaws or with Board of Director approval. A Standing Committee Chair is appointed by the President and is a member of the Board of Directors.
Special Committees are for specific, temporary need, formed for a limited time to address a particular issue or project (short-term purpose) and are dissolved once their work is complete. These chairs are not on the Board of Directors, but often will be at the BoD meeting to report on the special project.
