Help Us Restore the Garden Club of St. Petersburg

As you may know, the Garden Club of St. Petersburg suffered significant damage during the hurricanes of 2024. Hurricane Helene flooded our cherished clubhouse with over three feet of water. Less than two weeks later, Hurricane Milton devastated much of the gardens we have lovingly cultivated and preserved for years. The extent of the damage to both the clubhouse and gardens is heartbreaking, and we deeply empathize with everyone in our community who treasures this special place as much as we do.

We are grateful that the City of St. Petersburg's insurance policy will cover most of the structural repairs to the building. However, we face a significant challenge: replacing the clubhouse contents, as we decided several years ago not to purchase contents insurance due to its high cost and limited funds.

Among the essential items we need to replace are:

  • Two refrigerators
  • An oven
  • Linens, silverware, and dishes
  • Materials for the children’s summer camp
  • Furniture for the bride’s room
  • A printer
  • Five file cabinets
  • Tables and chairs

Here are some examples of the approximate costs:

FURNISHINGS FOR BRIDES ROOM:
  CHAIRS 2 $150 EACH
  SMALL COUCH 1 $250
  SMALL CARPET 1 $200

  CHAIRS 250 $40 EACH
  TABLES, 6' LONG 26 $50 EACH
  TABLES, ROUND 20 $269 EACH
  STAGE 1 $1000

  COUCH CUSHIONS 6 $60 EACH
  DESKS 2 $250 EACH

The Phoenix Fund

The Club's Executive Committee has christened this fundraising effort as “The Phoenix Fund” as we intend to rise again and get back to normal.

Since we have not been able to hold any rental events and had to return the funds for those that were scheduled, we have lost this revenue stream on top of everything else. We have received several generous donations including from other garden clubs, our Grants Chairman is busy applying for grants, and outdoor fund raisers have been held with plant sales and recycled Holiday décor, but those alone will not cover all the costs.

We know many of you are dealing with your own damage to your homes and our hearts go out to you. For others, we would greatly appreciate a donation of ANY amount.

Checks can be made payable to:

The Garden Club of St. Petersburg
500 Sunset Dr. South

Your support can help us rebuild and restore the Garden Club to its former glory. This space is not just a clubhouse or a garden—it’s a community treasure that brings people together. We greatly appreciate any contribution you can make to help us through this difficult time.

Thank you for standing with us!
